NYC Spots is a free map of things to do in and around New York City: date ideas, free activities, landmarks and views, Michelin-starred restaurants, shows, fireworks and parades, Halloween and holiday events, and day trips. It also shows free public restrooms, free Wi-Fi and phone charging, free drinking water, and the Central Park horse carriage stands near you. Read the full guide.

Free, $ under $15, $$ $15 to $40, $$$ over $40: the cheapest regular way in for one adult.

Prices, hours, and dates were checked in October 2026, mostly on official sites, and most places link the sources used to check them. Confirm before you go.

Restrooms: 983 public restrooms. 975 are operational restrooms from NYC Open Data (last updated June 27, 2025); 8 more near Times Square (transit hubs, a plaza, and Hoboken and Jersey City) were checked by hand on their operators' pages, and each says where it came from. Hours and status change, so check signs on site. For more, try Got2GoNYC or NYRestroom.

Free Wi-Fi and charging: 2,160 working LinkNYC kiosks from the city's kiosk status data (NYC Open Data, October 25, 2026), each with free Wi-Fi, two USB charging ports, and free calls in the U.S. (LinkNYC FAQ); 230 public library branches with free Wi-Fi (New York branches from the city Facilities Database, July 2026, plus 10 Jersey City branches from jclibrary.org); and 6 places whose own pages confirm free Wi-Fi, including the Oculus, Moynihan Train Hall, Port Authority Bus Terminal, and Manhattan West. Bring your own cable.

Free drinking water: 1,485 drinking fountain sites within 10 km (6.2 mi) of Times Square: 1,454 from the NYC Parks drinking fountain data (last updated July 15, 2024), 29 in Hoboken, Jersey City, and nearby towns mapped by OpenStreetMap volunteers (collected October 26, 2026), and 2 more named by Hoboken Girl; 84 have a bottle filler. NYC Parks turns most outdoor fountains off for much of the fall and winter so the pipes do not freeze (Prospect Park Alliance; NYC Parks at a City Council hearing, April 23, 2025); 182 are indoors in park buildings.

Horse carriages: the three Central Park pick-up lines named by the Central Park Conservancy, with the city's maximum fare. The City Council voted on October 22, 2026 to end carriage rides by June 1, 2028.

Indoor or outdoor: each place is tagged by where most of the visit happens; places with both, such as zoos and gardens with greenhouses, show in both filters.

Fireworks change often; the FDNY's permitted list is on NYC311.
